Mrs. P. Boehler, Library Media Specialist The mission of the Blasdell Library Media Center is to enable students to use information effectively, develop a strong interest in reading and become independent library users and lifelong learners. The instruction in the library media center in the primary and intermediate grades is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards. Accelerated Reader is an important program in our building. All students at all reading levels in Grades 2-5 participate in our AR program. Here is a list of our new tests since September, 2005. We hope you will enjoy reading these books! In the intermediate grades, we use laptop computers to do lessons on the Internet. Students are encouraged to use the search engines designed for young people due to the quality and accuracy of information found on these sites. Search Engines for Students http://www.onekey.com This is a safe engine for students from Google. http://www.yahooligans.com Yahoo provides this search engine for students. http://www.kidsclick.org Librarians created this student search engine. Databases http://www.worldbookonline.com Frontier Central School District provides this service. See Mrs. Boehler for an ID and password. http://www.buffalolib.org You can find any book in the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System as well as use your library card to reserve books and access databases.
